It’s Up To Us

I’m not pointing fingers

But we must admit

That the black community is damaged

No one wants to talk about it

No one wants to face

What is happening

No one wants to get serious

About their life choices

The ones that actually has

Major consequences

That unfortunately once done

We can’t change or fix

People want to program their minds

To see their lives

As a happily ever after

A fairy tale

But no one wants to discuss

How certain choices can bring

Us back to reality have us

Sounding like a nursery rhyme

Old woman in the shoe

Had so many children

That she didn’t know what to do

Messing with the wrong men

Will have your life like a soap opera

All my children

And you are Not Erica

Having multiple babies out of wedlock

Losing value on the dating market

As if the arrow is pointing downward

On Down Jones

Ladies don’t waste unnecessary time

Ask the man who you feel

Maybe your potential mate

What are his goals and dreams

If he wants to get married

He will tell you

Don’t let having multiple children

And him not marrying  you

To be a life lesson

It won’t be only you who will suffer

The children will too

Don’t be a fool

Don’t continue to hold on

Respect his decision

Move on life is short

Even though every single black mother’s

Situations are unique

Even though all single black mothers

Are not irresponsible

It doesn’t matter to

The people of the world

It’s time to wake up

Poverty, despair, and hopelessness

Are parts of nightmares

And should not be identified as

Being apart of African American culture

We have got to do better

We have to not feed into the negative

Stereotypes and generalizations

That some of us choose to embrace

It’s a big mistake

It’s up to us what we choose

What we answer to or who we allow

Ourselves to get attached to

Allowing negativity to turn inward

Single black mothers are not used goods

Not all of us are from the hood

Not all of us are ghetto

Those are words of the devil

We know that he is the biggest liar

Of them all

One of the greatest titles

That a woman can possess

Is being called mother

The greatest words that a parent

Can hear is their children

Tell them that they love you

We want our children to have

A better life than what we had

That requires having a stable home

Which consist of a mom and a dad

A happy homes goes beyond a fad

It never goes out of style

We don’t want to be responsible

For our children walking around

With a hole in their hearts

Remember they are suppose

To experience love first

From ma and pops

It’s time to break the curse

It’s time to stop making excuses

Because they are useless

The Black community

Needs to get it together

The broken home situation

Is very urgent

We Are

I want to take a second to mention

Before I begin expressing

My affection for my

Beautiful black sisters

I am not a person

Who promotes division

Uplifting others

Is always my intentions

To spread positive messages

My sisters and I

Marches to the beat

Of a different drum

Some say that we are

Rude or have bad attitudes

But my dude that’s

The furthest from the truth

We are radiant

We are independent

We are grounded

We are strong

Yet we are also delicate

It’s part of being feminine

We do what we can

All by ourselves

Even if we needed help

We don’t stress

We are loyal

We are true

We sacrifice daily

For our beautiful babies

We endure pain

We don’t allow it

To turn inward

We don’t allow things to change us

Even though it should have

Drove us crazy

We love hard

We don’t give up

We are beautiful

We are courageous

We are captivating

Sometimes we can be complex

Certain situations

Can make us perplexed

If we get upset

We can’t stress it

For longer than a minute

Doing that is whack

Haven’t you heard the saying

That black don’t crack

Stress has to take a seat

Like several of them

Yes we are human

But that’s the extent of it

Even though there’s

Information that’s not accurate

Floating about meant to oppress us

We don’t answer to it

We don’t claim it

We know who we are

We are compassionate

We practice unity

We are women of substance

We have powerful spirits

We nurture intensely

Our goal is to

Accomplish positivity

Hopefully it’s passed

Down from generation to generation

What a feeling of gratification

We march to the beat of a

Different drum

And we answer to no one

Except for God Almighty

In heaven we are a part

Of the rhythm nation

Am I Ladylike?

Femininity- the quality of being female; womanliness

The other day I watched a video of Christelyn on black women and femininity after watching it I went to the mirror looked for a very long time. So many thoughts came over me like a huge typhoon. Am I ladylike with my background it’s a question that begs for an answer. My sister that’s second to me always behaved kind of tomboyish, she and I spoke on the phone pertaining to the subject. Yes talking on the phone with me can get so deep. Anyway she was telling me that regardless in her opinion she’s a woman that’s tough like a man who can be a lady.Hmmmmmm. Indeed it requires a woman to be tough especially being a single mother of boys. Like how does one balance the two?

I love my wigs, dresses, nail polish, earrings and toe rings to name a few. I feel like a woman of course femininity goes a lot deeper it’s attitude and it’s softness. It’s impossible to be soft when your life requires you to be the opposite. I am a single parent of two boys maybe I should get me some tea cups and have a tea party!! LMBO!! I love my sister’s attitude when I spoke to her I mean it’s a great outlook for her life her modo is she’s a woman that acts tomboyish at times it’s who she is and she’s fine with it. For me I want that softness and I do I just can’t be that way all the time. Perhaps I will find a way to be more dainty but I don’t want my sons copying me. My sons are boys definitely and they are teens therefore they know better. So yeah I’ll spend more time being softer. I know that I am a woman but I love being a lady. A black intelligent lady and I am very proud of who I am.

This One’s for You

Ha Ha Ha

I’m about to make some

Of these negative black men puke

You know the ones who rebuke

The positive black men who uplift

Their black sisters and

The white men who love us

Would like to give a big shout out

This one’s for you

And I don’t mean Barry Manilow but

I do want you to take these words

With you wherever you go

You are appreciated

Just want you guys to know

What you are doing is in not in vain

When the smoke clears

Your positive actions will remain

Black women have been hurt

But who hasn’t

These things were beyond our control

Still we don’t allow it to

Take a toll

Black women have been spat on

Tongue slashed

With negative words and stereotypes

Like a horror movie

Still black women may cry

But it does not take long

For our tears to dry

We might sink a little

But still we rise

Once the pain is gone

There is none left over

We are soldiers

We still stick our hearts

Out and choose to love

We know our children will

Take our lives as an important

Lesson for when they get older

White men who love us keep

In mind that we chose you

Because we wanted to

We were never looked over

By certain black men

We know that everything

Happens for a reason

So we kept on movin

White men who love us

You are our choice

Not another option or backup plan

So have no doubt about

The black women who loves you

You are not pawns in a game

More like kings for us queens

Positive black men understand

We applaud you for being real men

Black women are becoming a whole lot

More wiser so we are more bolder

When it comes to making

The right choices for our lives

We raise our heads up high

And never hunch our shoulders

We are owners of excellent posture

We recognize who is

The true controller of our lives

In spite of the lies

We keep complete composure

Our self esteem will not be lowered

Please know positive black men

And the white men who love us

On earth you are the true stockholders

Of our respect

So you guys are the ones

Who we care about

Don’t stop doing the positive

Things that you do

One day it will all pay off

In the meantime just wanted

To commend you

You guys are valuable

Myths About Black Women

It upsets me having to make a post about this situation at this point in time. The disrespect that black women receive is so ridiculous. The myths pertaining to us are unbelievable that we have kids by several men, that we are uneducated, that we are lazy, the list just goes on. When a black woman decides to date outside of her race the stereotypes are even worse.  First off I don’t fit into the cliche’that’s placed on women who date outside of their race. I grew up in a mostly black neighborhood, had a mixture race of friends, mostly black schools etc. I don’t watch Empire or Scandal. I am just attracted to white men and that’s just how it is. I’ve spoken about this before there’s a lady that I follow on YouTube and she talks about interracial dating. She gets a lot of flack because she’s promoting love. So what’s wrong with that?  When I  find my potential white mate I’m going to broadcast it too. That’s what people do when they are in love.

I’m for the human race and yes I am very concerned about the black community. Being a black woman I am apart of the black community so how could I not be concerned. It’s quite laughable how many speak of racism and don’t  want to address the hate that’s going on in the community against black women. The lack of respect is astonishing.  Where did it all come from?  And why? In my opinion I believe that a lot of pain starts at home. Broken homes where mainly single mothers are the head of the household with fathers who aren’t in their children’s lives. Broken children who grew up into angry adults that’s hurting the community. Hurt people hurt others. Hurt people justify their hurt by hurting others. The saddest people are the ones who validate trying to destroy a person by blaming the person who they are trying to destroy. The hate that a lot of black men have for black women is so overwhelming that it demolishes all the positive things that’s going on. This needs to stop we have to do better. At the end of the day we are hurting ourselves as a community. Think about it we must break the chain. Who will be brave enough to not point fingers but do their part?
