Surrender

To surrender, it’s one of the hardest parts of my Christian walk. Surrendering means to trust God fully even when we don’t see anything in the natural. It can get difficult because there are more people who are nonbelievers than believers. Recently I prayed to God and asked Him to send more Christians my way. Christians who do not compromise God’s Word. Now I’m not as strong as Brian “Head” Welch he walked away from the band Korn and went back because God told he to. Brian spoke about how there are some Christians who don’t understand his calling. It’s so insane with all the ways that God used to reach people there are still some Christians who question people’s walks.

We must understand that God’s Word is His Will for our lives. On our walk with Christ there should no compromising because that’s a sign of not truly trusting God or honoring His Word. The bible says that all scriptures are for our correction.

I’ve prayed for the strength of Samson and the meekness of Abraham to help me on my walk with Christ.

Kalieel’s Birthday

Happy Birthday Kalieel
The love that I have for you
Is indescribable
Because my love is beyond tangible
You are such a blessing to me
Every milestone that you made
Made me better
I’m so thankful that
God gave me you
You are going to change
The world
The same way
That you changed me

Doing Splits

When things are split it’s never a good result. It’s just like a person who has one foot into the world and one with God. It really makes a person look foolish because people of the world and people of God consider it to be hypocrisy. So it’s important to be true to God and He will help us to be true to ourselves.

How you look when you’re half in the world and trying to walk with God.

There is a spiritual war taking place;make up your mind about which world that you will take part in. Leave the splits to the professionals and that’s the cheerleaders.

The Sounds We Make

In kindergarten, we learned about consonants and vowels. When consonants and vowels come together, they make a sound—for example, misery and merry. Look at the words misery and merry. These two words have sayings misery loves company and the more the merrier.

It got me to thinking about the sounds we make and the people we talk to every day. It can make us and break us too. When I was in the chorus at school, everyone had to be in tune regardless of their voice range. If anyone were off note, the teacher would stop the song and make each section sing until the song was in key. The teacher would not stop until he found the person who was off note because it was ruining the song. What sounds are we making, and who are we making them with? I don’t know about anyone else, but the soundtrack that I make is a merry one that blesses others!!!

The Blessing of Unity

With every course that I take there is something that sticks out to me that gets me to thinking. Multicultural alliance is so important. Different people have a way of thinking and do things differently. Cross-cultural communication is so important it helps people to become intuitive and sensitive to others which helps with interacting. Communication helps with understanding others. It’s also should be understood that individualistic and collectivistic cultures differ too especially in a negative sense. I can’t stand when a person want to lump a whole entire group of people together based on a bad experience with one person.

I watched an interview that Phil Anselmo did, he is the former lead singer of Pantera. Some people call him racist because of comments that he made in the past. He spoke of how he was an angry insolent child. He has gotten older and has matured. I know of people who were racist and they later changed. I’m not saying that he ever was. I do know that skinheads and the KKK seek children who are angry and hurt to direct those emotions towards people of different races. Remember the movie American History X?

I saw a post that was so hateful about how the black people of today could never measure up to the black people of the 60s, I agree to a certain extent. The black people of today are strangers to the importance of unity. Not unity within the black community only but across racial lines. Some of the black people of today are tearing down the hard work that was done in the 60s.

There were some things that I did not agree with when Obama was in the office but I did admire how his cabinet was multicultural. He understood the importance of people from every culture. People from all walks of life can offer some sound advice because sometimes the most valuable advice is the kind that isn’t taken. I refuse to let that happen. I don’t want to miss a thing.

I have a post about sisterhood and I consider my few friends as sisters. My friends are of different races. I am black and I don’t have anything against some black women just the ones who makes everything a competition it’s not that serious. We as a people we can sometimes be our own enemies and it is for no reason. For an example if more black women choose to date outside of their race that’s great. What difference does it make if or when people come around? As long as they are doing better. Do you really want to see one another succeed? Or is it about getting into a person’s business to use them as a case study? There was a time when we all thought differently about so many things. So why not extend the courtesy of understanding to others? We know more now then we did ten or even twenty years ago and so on. Come on. And why does everything have to be about whose idea was first George Washington Carver made peanut butter but do you think people think about that when they are eating Skippy or Jif? The first computer was made in 1946 but do you think the people on an apple computer thinks of that. Interracial couples have been around since the time of Moses maybe before then. Which was before all of was born! Self centeredness and self absorbed people just grind my gears!!!

My whole point is nothing positive comes from hate or division even if some don’t want to admit it. Unity stays in my vision.

You Won’t Get Me

There is a war of the spirit
The way to win this battle
Is not with the flesh
But with our spirit
It’s deeper than the flesh
Every day we must suit up
And tell ourselves
Our past is our past
You won’t get me
Negativity, Anger, Hatred,
Gossip, Jealousy, Animosity,
Everything opposite
Of what God has for me
You won’t get me
The fruit of the spirit is love
Test a person’s spirit
To avoid a sneak attack
Everything that glitters
Isn’t gold
We know that unicorns
Do not exist
We shall know a tree by its fruits
It can’t be denied
Hurt people hurt others
Healed people heal others
That shows our spirit
How we begin our day
That shows our spirit
How we handle tough times
That shows our spirit
How we treat our enemies
Or estranged family members
That shows our spirit
How we are in private verse
Who we are in the public
That shows our spirit
The scripture says that
All scripture is for our correction
So how you are living that
Shows your spirit
The scripture says
That if you call yourself holy
Yet still hold hands with the world
Then you are a liar
How is your spirit
Do you pray for others
Even the ones that have hurt you
Or the ones that you are
Not talking to
That shows your spirit
Doubt, Ill spoken words, Hopes of devising my hurt,
Generational curses, Ungodly advice
You won’t get me
I am suited up
What I can’t handle God will
I will love
I will trust
I will forgive
I will pray
I will suit up
I am ready

The Biggest Reflection

Reflection brings a lot of clarity. When we are young, we strive to follow a dream when we are older; we surrender to our calling. I remember when I was young, I wanted to be a VJ on MTV. I am glad that dream never happened; MTV is crap TV now.

I choose to accept my calling and own it. A calling is never easy; a person questions if they are right for it. There have been signs that confirm that I will be successful at my calling. Some play the part; I live it.

We all have a calling; some accept it, and others don’t. For some, there are various reasons why people do not accept their calling because they fear what others think. They fear their past even though it’s over. What helps me is knowing that God forgives, and He heals. We all have a past, and many are part of our testimonies. Why??? Because we are no longer the person who we used to be. We have grown, and we are set apart from our old selves. People who remind us of our past we have to ignore, forgive, and place them into God’s Hands.

The most prominent reflection has an epiphany in knowing that we are set free from our pasts, and God can indeed use us!!! Hallelujah!!!

Revelation 12:11 They triumphed over him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony.

Type O Negative

Hey Everyone! What’s up?! This is my first what’s Tameeka listening to for the month of August. I’m super excited.

The 90s holds so many memories for me. On Saturday nights I would stay up late just to watch Headbanger’s Ball. My mother would buy blank VHS tapes so I could record Headbanger’s Ball.

The year was 1994 when Riki Rachtman interviewed Peter Steele and Josh Silver. I was glued to the television screen. The song Christian woman was one of Type O Negative’s biggest hits. Peter Steele was a very intelligent guy he wrote all the songs for the band. Josh Silver was always cool as a cucumber with a sarcastic demeanor. The interview had one funny moment when Riki talked about the lyrics like Peter had a problem with women. Peter was like “I wrote a song about one woman that I was upset with. Anyone who understands basic English should know the difference between singular and plural.” Type O Negative was the absolute best. The 90s was when the band’s popularity was at it’s peak.

I love Type O Negative so much. Yeah! Please know that black girls indeed rock even back in the day I appreciated all music.

Type O Negative’s music is what I am listening to today as I bang my head walking down memory lane.
