The Blame Game

I see and hear a lot of black men tell black women to choose better, and it’s comical. What if choosing better means being with a man who may not be the same race as me? Everyone who reads my blog knows that I talk about responsibility and accountability. I have held myself accountable for the things that have occurred in my life. I take a daily evaluation of who I am because I know that I am not above of offending anyone. However, I will not be shamed by men who most times aren’t married, have children all over the place, and down other black women who think differently from them. No, I don’t know every black man, just like how all black men don’t know all black women, but they still judge us anyway. The very people who feel that my advice isn’t good enough track record isn’t so squeaky clean either.

I’m getting so tired of a lot of black men telling black women to choose better when at least 72% of black children are born out of wedlock, that’s 8% away from being above average at failing to build a solid family structure. It’s harder to walk away when people are married, and it shows that a man is planning to stick around. A lot of these black men spread their seed everywhere and are nowhere to be found in their children’s lives. Be a father who is in their children’s lives beyond baby and toddler stages but middle school, puberty stage, awkward stage, high school, college, and beyond. Don’t let this be you; Casper the friendly ghost!!!

Single parents like myself understand the consequences of our decisions; we see it every day. We don’t need people like you reminding us about our story when you don’t have a clue about the details of our story. Don’t judge just by what you see alone, even silent movies/films have subtitles. I refuse to have men who don’t pay my bills tell me about my life the only person’s opinion that I care about is the Lord Jesus Christ; He’s the one who brought my two children and me through every hardship.

Both black men and black women need to get it right; please stop trying to make it seem like it’s all our fault. Because guess what? It’s not; the numbers don’t lie. I’m so tired, and no, I am not bitter, I am smarter I have learned from my mistakes. Regardless of what some of you men think learning from mistakes means not choosing from the same group of men again. The probability of getting a good quality black man is a numbers thing, not a color thing, not a hurt thing, and not a bitter thing; it’s a reality. Check the statistics. If 72% of black children are born out of wedlock there is only 28% who are doing right so some of you black men who tell us to choose better are part of the problem too. It’s hard to choose better when there isn’t much to choose from. A lot more black men are marrying out, and black couples have a low marriage rate and high divorce rate. Let that sink in really deep before you judge and give mediocre advice. It’s time for an epiphany my brothers, I had mine a long time ago. MY EYES ARE WIDE OPEN!!!

Christ Like

The hardest thing in my life ever is my Christian walk. God is love, right? So why is walking with Christ so hard? Well I will tell you first of all it’s Not Christ that is the problem, it’s some of the people. Somewhere along the way, some Christians have gotten things mixed up somehow. What does a Christian’s walk look like? What should a Christian look like? What is Christ-like? I have been questioning this every since I decided to become more serious about my walk with Christ.

First and foremost, no two Christians’ walk is alike because no two people lives are the same. Every person on earth life has a story that can reach and touch certain people. Everyone has sinned. Everyone has won battles and are still fighting certain battles. One thing is for sure, regardless of a person’s life, what a person may have done or who they are, God can still use them. No one knows what God is doing in someone else’s life; remember Job in the Bible? Job “friends,” thought the troubles in his life was his fault, but it wasn’t.

We have to understand that we can know scripture back to front, we can say all the right things with the wrong heart, and it has no value. We have to stay in place of God’s love. God’s love is what leads a man to change to repentance. (Romans 2:4) I had a thought, and I may be wrong, but one of the most serious books in the Bible is Revelation. A lot of pastors don’t teach from it much, but why is it at the very end and not the first book? Chances are if a person read Revelation first, they probably would not want to read the rest of the Bible. Perhaps Revelation comes after all the other Books because every book prepares us and strengthens us for what’s to come.

Social media can be a great thing it gives people the ability to reach others with our opinions and information. However, social media also makes it easier for people to beat each other down. Some Christians become fixated on how they think a Christian walk should look like. We need not to be so quick to judge someone else’s walk when we have no idea what God is doing in that person’s life. Most importantly, no Christian should be afraid to shine a light in a dark place to reach others. No Christian should want only to reach people who look, think like them and have a little group because that’s not Christ like it’s cult-like. Know the difference. I am constantly growing in the Lord. Who am I to judge a person with tattoos, a drug user, or a promiscuous person? Who am I to try to tell Brian “Head” Welch about his walk with Christ? God is using Brian Welch is in a mighty way. I don’t know what God is doing in his life. No one can tell me what God is doing in my life either just because I listen to all kinds of music does not mean that God cannot and isn’t using me. I don’t know what God is doing in my life in the future, but I am ready for Him to use me.

Someone once said if you want to make God laugh tell Him the plans that you have for your life. After all, God knew us before we were born. (Jeremiah 1:5) God directs our paths (Proverbs 3:). To answer all my questions, I don’t know what a Christian walk looks like because I don’t know what God is doing in other people’s lives. If God was that easy to figure out why would we need Him? God ways and thinking are higher than ours. God loves us all and can save us all if we allow Him to. The last thing I ever want to do is be responsible for sending a person to hell because I turn them off from turning to Him based on my actions. If God can change me or anybody else why doubts what God can do in someone else’s life? Isn’t that placing limits on a limitless God we all need to be careful of how we treat other Christians and other people period. We all need to check our hearts constantly and love others always. We may be the only Christ that they see. Let’s help God to win souls and not lose them. God loves everyone. As Brian “Head” Welch said, “God told him to look at the crowd of fans that they were all of His Children and He wanted to save them all”. Didn’t Jesus change the woman at the well and the woman who was caught in adultery? Did Jesus judge the Pharisees about stoning the woman who was caught in adultery?

1 Corinthians 8:1
Now concerning things offered to idols: We know that we all know. Knowledge puffs up, but love edifies.

Jack White Baby!!!

Maannn!!!The new year just got better. Jack White has just released a song called Connected by Love. Jack White is absolutely brilliant. I am huge fan of all of Jack White’s music. I love the White Stripes, The Raconteurs, The Dead Weather, and his solo projects. When I saw a post yesterday that was about his new song being released today, I got hyped. I have already added Connected by Love to my playlist on Spotify. The only thing for me to do now is see him play live!!! Let’s Go!!!

Andrew Wood

Happy Birthday to Andrew Wood! Andrew Wood was the lead singer of the band called Mother Love Bone. Mother Love Bone was formed in Seattle. I remembered when my mother brought me Mother Love Bone’s cassette. My favorite song of Mother Love Bone is called Crown of Thorns.

Interesting facts about Andrew Wood is that he and Chris Cornell used to be roommates before they became famous. Chris Cornell was the lead singer of Soundgarden. Two members of Mother Love Bone became members of the band Pearl Jam. Andrew Wood passed away on March 19, 1990. A few months after Andrew Wood passed some of the members of Pearl Jam and Soundgarden formed the band Temple of the Dog. The name Temple of the Dog came from lyrics of a song by Mother Love Bone called Man of Golden Words. My favorite songs by Temple of the Dog are Hunger Strike and Say Hello to Heaven.

Happy Birthday to Andrew Wood! R.I.P

Stop It

So I just took a little break from my homework assignment to blog a quick post. I received a notification from an awesome lady that I follow on You-Tube about some fake news. There have been rumors circulating that black women are planning to boycott the movie Black Panther. Now hang on to your hats for the reason why it is being boycotted. It is rumored that it’s because of an actor by the name of Michael B. Jordan. I had to google his name I’m not a huge movie buff so please pardon me for my lack of knowledge of not knowing who he is. The reason why black women are so called angry is because of who he is dating. Fake News!!! No one cares about who this guy is dating it’s his choice, I could give a hill of beans. I promote interracial dating especially for black women because it’s rarely seen. And I believe that love has no color so whomever it is that’s responsible for starting this rumor is really lame.

As I have already shared I am not really into movies but I do love certain television shows such as the Walking Dead. I love Michonne and I love the actress Danai Gurira. The reason why I would pay to see Black Panther is because I would want to see her. It’s comical to me how there’s fake news about black women being triggered by who Michael B. Jordan is dating. It’s a known fact that when most black men become famous they marry out of their race. To me it’s all good as long as they don’t treat white women as a status of luxury like a mansion or a fancy car because that’s not cool either; they are human beings. We are all human beings who are worthy of true love regardless of our race. Why does it have to take some black men to have money in order to date out? Do they feel that without having a lot of money maybe non-black women wouldn’t give them a chance? Hmmm perhaps there isn’t much to them besides their money? Anyway I don’t care who people choose to date it doesn’t affect me. Every person has the right to date and marry whomever they choose. Love has no color. Most black women feel exactly how I do we don’t care who black men date so please Stop the Madness!!! Stop With the Fake News!!!

Jar of Flies

It cannot be stressed enough the 90s had the best music ever. On January 25, 1994 Alice in Chains album released Jar of Flies. My favorite songs off of Jar of Flies are No Excuses and Nutshell. The album is soon to be 24 years old!! Man does time fly.

The Seattle scene produced so many huge bands like Alice in Chains, Soundgarden, Pearl Jam, Candlebox and some try to say Screaming Trees. My favorite album by Alice in Chains is Dirt which turned 25 years old last September.

So many bands made music that I really enjoyed and felt I could relate to. I’m so thankful for the art of music. Happy Birthday Month to the album Jar of Flies. Yay!

Pink Metal Head

I have to start by saying that I am stoked!!! Here on be lifted I talk about the things that we think about, but they spoke about. I have shared about my love for heavy metal mind you that I listen to all music; however, rock/heavy metal is my favorite. Ever since I was young, I have loved heavy metal!!! I grew up in a time where a black girl listening to heavy metal was unheard of, and I’m thankful that my mother allowed me to be free to listen to what I wanted to. It was no secret about my love for heavy metal. The first song that had me hooked on rock music was AC/DC “You Shook Me All Night Long,” which came out in 1980, the video was very cool. When Nine Inch Nails first came out in 1989 with “Head Like a Hole” I was hooked, and I have been a fan of their’s ever since. Trent Reznor and I both share the same birthday, May 17th baby!! Type O Negative has made an impact on me, and I love the band so much.

The reason why I bring up my love for heavy metal/rock music is that recently I came across a young black lady who loves heavy metal as I do. The you tuber’s name is pink metal head, and she’s 21 years old. It’s so refreshing to see young black ladies owning their identity unapologetically. She did share that there have been people who try to match a person’s race to music. Example that black people listen to hip hop and r & b only and that white people listen to heavy metal/ rock music only. The stereotypes seriously have got to go. Things had gotten a lot better from when I was growing up. Seeing more and more young black ladies, as well as men, appreciate heavy metal chokes me up. I just had to blog about it.

Both of my sons listens to heavy metal/rock music; my youngest listens to everything that I do. My youngest son’s favorite bands are Metallica and Danzig. His favorite song by Metallica is “One,” and his favorite song by Danzig is “Mother.” Today my youngest and I was jamming to Pantera, Megadeath, White Zombie, Type O Negative, Metallica and the list goes on and on. With the younger generations tastes in music becoming more diverse, it’s the best feeling on Earth. I want to tell the youth of today that music transcends racial boundaries if you want to listen to country music go ahead I love Darius Rucker. I have been a fan of Darius Rucker every since he was the lead singer of Hootie and the Blowfish. If you love hip hop and R & B, listen to it and if you love heavy metal/rock music, then jam on. If you love all music as I do, that’s great too. Whatever music that you choose to listen to, please do as long as you are you. Even our choices of music say a lot about who we are so doing what makes you happy as long as it isn’t hurting anybody. I’m proud of the upcoming heavy metal generation; it’s becoming more colorful; which is excellent.

What’s Tameeka Listening to?

Yes! This is my first what’s Tameeka listening to post for 2018. The year was 1993 I was up late watching headbangers ball when I saw Type O Negative Christian Woman video. I fell completely in love with Peter Steele’s voice and his looks. There’s no female fan of Type O Negative who doesn’t feel like I do.

Today is Peter Steele’s birthday he was the leader singer, composer and bassist of Type O Negative. I was so sad to hear about his passing on April 14,2010, he was a really talented guy. Type O Negative helped to make the 90’s music great. My favorite album by Type O Negative is called Bloody Kisses. The music of today can’t hold a candle to the music of the 90’s. Every genre of music of the 90’s was excellent that’s a fact.

Often I have wondered what my mom thought when she passed my bedroom hearing all the different kinds music. My mother was really an amazing lady she allowed me to be me completely and didn’t question my choices. My mother wanted me to be happy, heck she liked some of the metal songs that I listened to as well.

Peter Steele this post is for you. I wish that I could have watched you play live but it’s okay I’ll keep jamming to your music. There’s so many other things that you did that added to your sexiness but I’m just going to keep it classy. RIP.
