What’s Tameeka Listening To?

Some of hardest men are Christian men:

The Dirt

The other day I wrote about my top ten ballad songs. I chose Motley Crue’s song Without You as one of my favorite rock ballads.

The 80s was when glam rock bands were at their peak. Glam rock bands like Poison, Cinderella, Bon Jovi, Warrant, Motley Crue etc ruled MTV. MTV had the best videos back in the day now it’s just straight trash. My bedroom wall was plastered with all of their posters. I loved buying magazines like Hit Parader with the pull out posters. Those were the days.

Girls, Girls, Girls, Kickstart My Heart, Home Sweet Home, Smokin in the Boys Room etc. Yes!!! Ya girl loves her some Motley Crue.

I am super stoked a movie is coming out that’s about Motley Crue. My favorite member of the band is Tommy Lee so Machine Gun Kelly had better do him justice. March 22nd!!! Save the date that’s when the movie The Dirt will premiere on Netflix. I will be watching Netflix and chilling.

Top Metal and Rock Ballads

What’s Valentine’s Day without music? So I thought of my favorite rock/metal ballads.

When we think of a ballad the first thing that comes to mind is something that romantic and then R & B or even country music follows but wait any genre can make a ballad. A ballad is a song that tells a story which can be romantic, dramatic, or even funny.

There is something about hearing Phil Anselmo and James Hetfield singing a melody accompanied with heavy riffs the goes all through me!!! Oh my stars!!!

Here are my top 10 favorite ballads:

10. Fly to the Angels- Slaughter
9. The Thin Line Between Love and Hate- Iron Maiden
8. Close My Eyes Forever- Lita Ford and Ozzy
7. Love Bites- Def Leppard
6. Dream On- Aerosmith
5. Is this Love- Whitesnake
4. White Moon- The White Stripes
3. Without You- Motley Crue
2. This Love- Pantera
1. Nothing Else Matters- Metallica

Peggy Jones

Here’s another interesting piece of black history Peggy Jones aka Lady Bo was the first African American female rock and roll guitarist. She played guitar in Bo Diddley’s band.

In my opinion black history is a part of American history. We are Americans point blank. Black history month is when I take the time to find out about little known facts. Little known facts that wasn’t recognized by not many people at all.

It’s so awesome being able to share another amazing moment of black history.

When Bad Does Good

The 61st Annual Grammy Awards show took placed last night. As I have shared I haven’t watched a music award show since probably the 90s. Music award shows aren’t like the way that they used to be due to the fact that music isn’t like it used to be. A lot of music of today lacks passionate and meaning unless it’s from an artist of the past. The Walking Dead beats out the Grammys everytime when it comes to which I choose to watch. That’s right I choose to watch flesh eating zombies over the Grammys.

Chris Cornell won a Grammy last night for Best Rock Performance. He won the award for the song When Bad Does Good. The song When Bad Does Good was an unreleased track that was in Chris Cornell’s personal archives. The song is featured on the self-titled legacy album Chris Cornell that was released on November 16, 2018. I’m glad that Chris Cornell is finally receiving the recognition that he deserves. He was an amazing song writer with a one of a kind voice. Chris Cornell will truly be missed no one sings like him anymore.

Lyrics to the song When Bad Does Good :

Standing beside an open grave
You’re fate decided, your life erased
Your final hour has come today
Lit by the fire of your temples burning
You were a child and so was I
Now you’re a hunter but I am a lion
And I will cut you down like I’ve done so many times
But sometimes bad can do some good
Sometimes bad can do some good
Sometimes bad can do some good
And I heard you say that flesh sells by the pound
When blood is raining down it cuts a deep river
And I’m diving
Now shine a light down onto the earth
And shake this gold dust out, out of the dirt
No saints beside me and no prayers to guide me
Sometimes bad can do some good
Bad can do some good
Sometimes bad can do some good
I’ve chosen a side and I will show no pity (rain down, heaven is falling)
And spare no lives
For those who try me (rain down, heaven is falling)
Let it be understood
Sometimes bad can do some good (rain down, heaven is falling)
Sometimes bad can do some good (rain down, heaven is falling)
Sometimes bad can do some good

What’s Tameeka Listening To?

Loving the soundtrack for the movie “Prime”. I am listening to the song “I wish you love”. I dedicate this song to my first love. The words to this song are everything because they are so on point.

I wish you bluebirds in the spring
To give your heart a song to sing
And then a kiss, but more than this
I wish you love
And in July a lemonade
To cool you in some leafy glade
I wish you health, and more than wealth,
I wish you love
My breaking heart and I agree
That you and I could never be
So, with my best, my very best
I set you free
I wish you shelter from the storm
A cozy fire to keep you warm
But most of all, when snowflakes fall
I wish you love
My breaking heart and I agree
That you and I could never be
So, with my best, my very best
I set you free
I wish you shelter from the storm
A cozy fire to keep you warm
But most of all, when snowflakes fall
I wish you love
But most of all, when snowflakes fall
I wish you love

What’s Tameeka Listening To?

After almost year two of Chris Cornell’s passing a decent tribute was given to him. I have been vocal about Chris Cornell receiving the proper respect that he deserves. So Miley Cyrus sang “Say Hello 2 Heaven” it was alright. It’s one of my favorite songs by Temple of the Dog. Hunger Strike is my all time favorite song by Temple of the Dog. Say Hello 2 Heaven is what I’ve been listening to a lot lately besides the Raconteurs.

“Say Hello 2 Heaven”

Please, mother mercy
Take me from this place
And the long winded curses
I keep hearing in my head
Words never listen
And teachers, oh, they never learn
Now I’m warm from the candle
But I feel too cold to burn
He came from an island
And he died from the street
And he hurt so bad like a soul breaking
But he never said nothing to me

So say hello to heaven, heaven, heaven…
Say hello to heaven, heaven, heaven, yeah

New like a baby
Lost like a prayer
The sky was your playground
But the cold ground was your bed
Poor stargazer
She’s got no tears in her eyes
Smooth like a whisper
She knows that love heals all wounds with time
Now it seems like too much love is never enough
You better seek out another road
Cause this one has ended abrupt

Say hello to heaven, heaven, heaven…
Say hello to heaven, heaven, heaven…
Say hello to heaven, heaven, heaven…

I never wanted
To write these words down for you
With the pages of phrases
Of all the things we’ll never do
So I blow out the candle and
I put you to bed
Since you can’t say to me now
How the dogs broke your bone
There’s just one thing left to be said

Say hello to heaven, heaven, yeah
Say hello to heaven, heaven, yeah
Say hello to heaven, heaven, yeah
Say hello to heaven, to heaven, yeah

September Sun

It’s no secret how much that I love Type O Negative. The 90s rocked and Type O Negative made it happen. I was debating which song I wanted to share it was a tie between Love You to Death and September Sun. Well it’s September so it’s obvious which song won. Check out the lyrics:

September Sun
Type O Negative
The album’s second single, which was cut down from over nine minutes to under five for radio.
September sun, glowing golden hair
Now keep in mind, son: she was never there
October’s rust bisecting black storm clouds
Only the deaf hear my silent shouts

Yet in the dark, still he screams your name (Elizabeth!)
Nights living death with witch rhymes insane
Ten years amassed, para toda mi vida?
Lost man in time; was his name Peter?

September sun, rotted Flatbush porch
I would have run then, had I known the cost
Autumnal rays turned your eyes to stone
Did it give you pleasure to steal my soul?

Yet in the dark, still he screams your name (Elizabeth!)
Nights living death with witch rhymes insane
Ten years amassed, para toda mi vida?
Lost man in time; was his name Peter?

Leave her alone
I said leave her alone

Me? I know why
