When is Enough, Enough?

Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. once said that “there comes a time when silence is a betrayal.” When is enough, enough? When is it best to be silent? When is it time to speak up? I started my blog to talk about the things that people think about but choose not to talk about for whatever reason.

Let me start by saying this; it doesn’t matter if you are a Christian, Muslim, Atheist, Agnostic or Whatever a person believes in!!! It’s a person’s right to believe what they choose!!! My point is that Everyone has been tested about when to speak and when to be silent.

God asked Moses to go to Pharaoh and tell him to let His People go. God had given Pharaoh many chances before sending many plagues and even the death of his son. However, Pharaoh was still stubborn. God asked Moses to speak. Guess who was attempting to stop Moses from speaking? It was Moses. Moses was afraid of speaking up. There have been many stories in the Bible, where God asked people to speak up.

If God calls on a Christian to speak, they had better do it; unless that Christian wants to end up in the belly of a whale. So no, God does not expect a Christian to be quiet all the time and to turn the other cheek. God has asked people to act, and that included speaking up.

There have been times when I was going to tell people my story, but God told me not to say anything and that my time for sharing my story is coming. How do I know that God told me not to say anything? He gave me confirmation. One of my Facebook friends tagged me in a post the following day of me contemplating on sharing my story. The post said, “Life is meant to be Lived. Fear is not an option when you know you were sent to Fly. Understand your Power; know that you are Greatness.” This lady is on fire for God and did not know what was on my mind. God had her relay a message. God told her to reach out to me. God told her to speak. So you see God has proven His existence to me time and time again.

Earth is not Heaven, so everyone isn’t going to be good, but Earth isn’t hell either we still experience the beauty of flowers, butterflies, blue skies and cool breezes. I understand that there are some people here on Earth who has made our lives to be almost unbearable. But God will have our backs, and He does have us speak. Yes, we are living in a society regardless of who they choose to follow for guidance, who are treacherous. Understand these jealous people who are our enemies study us more than they did for a test in school. Why? Because they see things that we don’t positive things that may threaten them. So they want to attack our character or try to attempt to have others question things. Some of our enemies pretend to know so much about us and know nothing at all. This can and has happened to anyone.

If we encounter or are in the company of people who try to silence us, we have to let them go. I refuse to need deep in scalding hot water and claim that I am shivering to make others happy. No, I am not making people comfortable, so they don’t have to deal with my pain. People who genuinely care won’t expect us to suffer in silence. Life is too short not to speak up to avoid confrontation. Because guess what? At times confrontation is necessary. Escapism is a temptation because it’s an easy fix.

I have had some Christians come after me and judge especially about the kinds of music that I listen to. I have had non-Christians judge me too claiming to be all open-minded and their minds be more narrow than the side of a ruler. Encouraging people to speak but doubt everything they shared with them (behind their backs of course). People don’t feel safe enough to share their stories, especially with people who will claim it isn’t true, which makes them seems like nosy people. Nosy people pretend to care to gain information. So we all have to be careful about sharing our life journey.

Bottom line confrontation is always going to feel uncomfortable. Sometimes we will have people tell us to be quiet even when the writing is on the wall. If it doesn’t feel right, then we have to speak up. Sometimes being silent is Not the answer, especially in the face of adversary. Confrontation is necessary.

Can’t Nobody Tell It Better Than Me

Diversity of thought allows a person to accept and respect what another person believes as long as it isn’t hurting anyone. I am a Christian, and I am proud of that. When I had no one, I had God. I can give testimony after testimony about what God did to save my children and I. Again; it was not a human. I understand that some people have had situations that occurred in their lives, where they question God. Some people are so angry at God that it has them blind. There are about 7.3 billion people in the world, and 2.3 billion are Christians. So 2.3 billion people are lost? This isn’t slavery time no one is getting beat over the head and forced to believe in Christ. People of different races are Christians. So, all of these people are just blind, and they believe in Christ for no reason? I don’t think so.

I have had things that have occurred in my life, and recently I found something else out. And I am not angry at God about it. God gave us all free will. He doesn’t force us to believe in Him or follow Him. Kind like us wanting people to love us for who we are and not for what we can do. Think about it like this some people don’t believe in God, but they all aren’t going to behave the same. Some will think of others, but a lot won’t even more so. Why? They lack structure, and that’s why they do whatever they want without a care in the world. They lack having a conscience. We can’t blame God for everything and especially not for the people who choose Not to follow Him. Of course, they will do evil things their flesh controls them Not God.

In my opinion, a person can’t allow God if they are full of themselves. The consequence of not following God is an angry person who has an appetite for destruction, which is why I am careful of what I allow into my spirit. Evil is Not Good. Evil likes to hide in the dark. Bad things happen in the dark. We can’t walk in the dark, which is why we turn on a light. But once the light is on, there is no place for evil or darkness to hide. Evil is Not of light. The saying goes, “what’s done in the dark comes out in the light” because bad things can hide in darkness — something to think about.

I am not telling all of my life’s story because it’s Not time yet. I will say this much my “father” hated me, he abused my mother, my sister and I, both of my sons (one is autistic) are by the same man who I was married to, we don’t get along, and I am a single mother. This is just the tip of the iceberg about my life. Some of the things that have happened in my life were bad choices that I made and Not God’s fault. Some of the worst chapters in my life happened when I wasn’t walking right with God. Every life has a story, and so does mine. All I know is that there has to be a God with all I have been through and continue to go through. I have overcome and endured!!! That’s how I know that God is real. Believe what you will, after all, we have free will. I choose to believe what the harm is in believing and having hope? Besides, I will not stop having faith, it’s the one thing that keeps me going When I Am About To Run Out Of Steam!!!

Love International

Bravo has a new show that I am interested in called To Rome for Love. The show is about African American women who travel to another country to find love. I find this so refreshing because we get to see how different cultures interact in the dating world. The show will be exciting but I hope that it won’t contain too many stereotypes or too much drama. Praying that the show uses this opportunity to show African American women in a positive light. We can do without the unnecessary drama in order to grab ratings. It needs to be understood that many people don’t look at television shows as being fake some believe that there is a little truth in everything. I’m excited to see what happens with the show positive things; here’s hoping!!!

Steve Vai

You Guys!!! I love Steve Vai. My goal is to learn how to play his song For the Love of God. His songs need no words because his guitar does all the talking. I was listening to his music on repeat of course and my oldest loves it too. Steve Vai is absolutely incredible. Just had to make a quick post about what I am listening to. If you get the chance, please check out Steve Vai’s music. You will not be disappointed.

Remember the Time

Oprah Winfrey made some amazing points when she accepted her Golden Globe Award. One of the things that she said was everyone has a story and for us to share it. With that being said I going to share MY STORY because it’s mine ALONE!!! No one knows MY LIFE STORY better than me except God almighty. Anyone who attempts to lessen my story has a motive and it’s an evil one. I am me and I am Not caring about who accepts me or not. I know what my hobbies are. I know what kinds of music that I love and how long that I have been listening to it. And most importantly I know who I am attracted and how long it’s been.

I have been listening to heavy metal when it was unheard of. My mother brought me shirts with heavy metal bands on them. In the 80s people used to write on their jeans mine had the name of metal bands on them. I had my walled plastered with all kinds of musicians including heavy metal bands.

It’s comical how some people think they know your history but really they don’t. Interracial dating is becoming more common between white men and black women. I have always been attracted to white men my first serious boyfriend was white. My first boyfriend brought me a car and we put stickers of heavy metal bands all over it. One time while my boyfriend at the time was out to sea my sister asked for a ride and a cop pulled me over for gp. Here I am a black woman with braids driving a car with heavy metal stickers on it in the early 90s. My sister can back me up on this story as well as a few others.

Interracial dating between white men and black women is really nothing new; it’s just becoming more common now. Some people act like it’s a big discovery like Columbus claiming America when Leif Erikson had already been there and done that. Facts!!!!! There are more books, movies, television shows, and groups that promotes interracial dating but they wasn’t around when I was dating outside of my race.

Now there are people who be like why are people being so vocal about interracial dating between white men and black women? Well because it’s still not really accepted and in order for couples to make it support is needed. It’s not easy to date interracial; it’s hard now and it was even harder when I first started dating outside of my race. I remember one time when my white boyfriend at the time and I was holding hands walking through the mall together when a large group of black males attempted to walk between us to get us to stop holding hands. I told him to ignore them because they would have tired to just him and me. I wouldn’t stood there and allow anyone to hurt him.

I am so excited that more and more people are following their hearts and being who they are. I rather for people to think I am strange than to Not be free because I am afraid of what people think of me. I am going to listen to the music that I enjoy and love who I want to love whether they have my skin color or not.

What’s Tameeka Listening to?

Yes! This is my first what’s Tameeka listening to post for 2018. The year was 1993 I was up late watching headbangers ball when I saw Type O Negative Christian Woman video. I fell completely in love with Peter Steele’s voice and his looks. There’s no female fan of Type O Negative who doesn’t feel like I do.

Today is Peter Steele’s birthday he was the leader singer, composer and bassist of Type O Negative. I was so sad to hear about his passing on April 14,2010, he was a really talented guy. Type O Negative helped to make the 90’s music great. My favorite album by Type O Negative is called Bloody Kisses. The music of today can’t hold a candle to the music of the 90’s. Every genre of music of the 90’s was excellent that’s a fact.

Often I have wondered what my mom thought when she passed my bedroom hearing all the different kinds music. My mother was really an amazing lady she allowed me to be me completely and didn’t question my choices. My mother wanted me to be happy, heck she liked some of the metal songs that I listened to as well.

Peter Steele this post is for you. I wish that I could have watched you play live but it’s okay I’ll keep jamming to your music. There’s so many other things that you did that added to your sexiness but I’m just going to keep it classy. RIP.

A Blizzard is Coming

Yaaay!!! My first post of 2018! Happy New Year! Now that I got that out of my system, the area where I live is expecting a blizzard. The word blizzard differs from state to state New York wouldn’t look at my area’s snow fall as a blizzard. When I think of a blizzard I think of the year of 1980. The year 1980 had one of the largest snow falls ever. I remember being on the school bus looking out the window at my mother walking to come get me. I will never forget her walking against the wind and falling snow that was trying to push her backwards. My mother was pregnant with my youngest sister too but she was always on top of doing her motherly duties.

Ooh here comes the circus snow! Back in the day every time the ringling brothers circus came to our city my mother would say “Oh man here comes the snow”. The younger generation don’t know about the circus snow because it began coming in April up until it shut down after 146 years of being in business. The blizzard of 1980 is the most known one in the area – because people were trapped in the Norfolk Scope that night after coming to see the ringling brothers circus. Every time there might be a rumor of snow in these parts someone blurts out “circus blizzard, circus blizzard!”, on Facebook or on the news. For years people would always joke that when the circus came to town, we’re going to get snow. The storm came earlier than expected, so people arrived at the circus, thinking they would be home before it snowed. When circus-goers left the morning show at 2 p.m, the snow was beginning to pile up, with more people arriving for the afternoon show. The circus was all “the show must go on”, so on it went, and when the afternoon show ended, nobody could leave the Scope–they were snowed in. It was too dangerous to drive and thus the phrase circus blizzard was formed!

My feeling about snow starts off as excitement, then I start down memory lane and then I start wishing that it goes away!!! Still I think of how beautiful the snow is and how God truly makes amazing things.

Does Every Kiss Really Begin With Kay ?

Tis the season of engagements, Christmas is the time of year when people make it official the most. I have a post about love being more valuable than a ring. I also believe that it’s the thought that counts as well. If a millionaire gave a person a 20.00 engagement ring, would the person still receive a kiss? The other day I posted about how some black people attack others behind their opinions, and this situation isn’t any different. There was a lady on Facebook who made a video about the possible reason for all the recent engagements. Kay Jewelers has a sale of rings and earrings for 19.99. The lady said that she noticed a lot of women getting in engaged with these rings for 19.99. Maannn!!! This lady’s video has gone viral, and she’s a black lady by the way. The video has thousands of comments which many are abusive name calling and shaming this lady behind her opinion. It’s comical to me because I guarantee that the very people who claim that the price of a ring doesn’t matter would act entirely different if they were in that position. If a guy has on Jordan’s and owns an iPhone X or a Samsung Galaxy S8 and proposed with a 19.99 ring? Would they say yes? Somebody ain’t being truthful. The high divorce rates and low marriages rates within the black community say so.

kay-jewelers - Edited

For the record, I think the jewelry looks very pretty. I believe love is more important than a ring; material things come and go. There have been families who have lost all their valuables in a fire or flood. My point is how the woman who made a video about her opinion went viral with over a million views. People are giving her all this attention to be mean to her, and it isn’t right. Differences of opinion are just Not accepted, and they are welcomed with insults. I wouldn’t be surprised or doubt it if I’m being bashed somewhere behind expressing my opinions and experiences. A group is trashing me. But that’s only supporting what I am saying. Yeah, I said it!!!!

Rejection is a Blessing

Rejection is a blessing!!! When I was younger rejection used to bother me, then I realized it’s their loss, not mine. Everyone isn’t going to like me, and I am okay with that. I was watching a You-Tube video, and the lady made some fantastic points about not being the collective of black people. I have felt this way all of my life, I listen to all kinds of music, and I think a completely different way for sure. She spoke of how her people who are black people have been the cruelest towards her, and it wasn’t the other races of people. I can testify about what she said. This used to bother me, but I have since embraced who I am. I go where I am appreciated. I am thrilled because I feel free, and that’s a blessing. I will not hide my feelings, likes, or dislikes if people don’t like who I am then goodbye. It means our time has expired and I am good trust me on this!!!! Everything happens for a reason, and some people are for a season.

I have written posts about being honest about what’s going on within the black community. The numbers don’t lie, and it’s not wrong information. Some people don’t want to face the truth, which means they are not ready to change the community. We have to be honest about the problems that are in the black community. If you speak about what’s wrong in the black community, you will get attacked. People will be on you quicker than Clark Kent can find a phone booth and change into Superman. Instead of using google to stalk people or attempt to “expose others” how about using it to find out about the black babies being born out of wedlock, high divorce, and low marriage rates if that doesn’t make you want to promote positive changes I’m not sure what will. Change within the black community can’t come by blaming the white race for why the community is the way that it is when we are setting today’s trend of negativity and damage. I don’t want to hear about Andrew Jackson with slaves and being on the money. Can we get up to date Harriet Tubman is on the front of the money Andrew Jackson is on the back….like how slavery is back in the day? I am very familiar with what took place years ago.

Don’t tell me that you support your people when black people have a business some of you expect a hookup. Complain about the prices in a black-owned restaurant but pay good money in another. SMH!!! Ahhhhhh!!! The Contradictory. We speak of being one of the most tolerant races, yet some people are quick to reject people who are different from them. I thank God for helping me to be happy with who I am that way I won’t waste my time trying to get people to accept me. I am fine with being a square I don’t want to fit in the black collective circle. I am Tameeka!!! I love God, football, basketball, poetry, all music however rock music is my favorite, I’m a single mother, I’m educated, I’m kind, I’m supportive, I’m loyal, and the list goes on and on. I love myself enough to know who I am, where I belong, and where I don’t.

All in Due Time

During this time of year many people get depressed for various reasons it could be the loss of a love one or they are just lonely. Losing a love one can be one of the most heartbreaking things that could ever happen. The holidays can make a person face the reality of many things that can’t be denied. A loving one not being around never gets easy we go on because there isn’t a choice.

The Emotions had a classic Christmas song called What do the lonely do at Christmas?, it gets to some single people, I guess. Being lonely and being alone are two different things, some people enjoy being alone. God has an appointed time for single people to connect with others. I remember when one of my friends told me how God wanted him to remain hidden which can be difficult when you want to be found. God’s timing is perfect everyone will not experience the same things at the same time. A clock has twelve numbers on it, there are 24 hours in a day, seven days and twelve months a year etc. As hard as things can be we have to trust God’s timing it’s perfect. Everything happens for a reason and everything happens when it is time. So in the meantime we should pray for the heartbroken and pray for the people who are lonely. We should also be happy for others I am a firm believer that how we behave when we are waiting for what we want is one of the biggest test of all.

The LORD is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit (Psalms 34:18). It is encouraging to read what King David wrote in the previously quoted psalm. We can be healed and delivered from a broken heart.
