What’s Tameeka Listening To?
The 90s was the end of a great music era. The whole ten years of the 90s ruled. In 1995 Duncan Sheik made his debut the first single off the album for called Barely Breathing. I loved the whole entire album so many awesome memories. I love the guitar melody in Serena and She runs away. Check it out:
Jesus I Love You
I love to laugh, joke, write, and watch football to name a few still I love Christ the must! I love music sweet, sweet music especially worship music!!! I love to praise God. It is absolutely the best feeling in the world to lift your hands up high and wide with tears in your eyes. I was blessed to come across a song by Highland Worship called Here I Surrender. I love the lyrics in that song it just touches my soul unlike any other song. The lyrics go:
High and Holy King
You had it all and you left everything. You walked the Earth beneath to make a way for me. Humbled to a cross You suffered death and paid the highest cost. You died so I could live. You washed away my sin. Now I can see You. Now I can know You. Now my heart has a song to sing. Jesus I love You. Oh, How I love You. You have my heart. My everything.
Beautiful lyrics they go so wonderful over the melody and vocals everything just flowed. I kept singing it over and over. If you can please check out this song you will love it.

A Shade of Black
Tameeka is about to go there. Yes I am about to talk about colorism in the black community. I was watching a video on YouTube and it was about a website called Smoochr. The website is a place that allows people to filter the kind of people that they want. A person get to choose based on skin shade, size of lips, hair type etc. Hmmmmmm definitely not something that I will be checking out. As many know I’m about love and never about division. God made us all different but beautiful we are to embrace our differences not use them as a way to divide. Anyway I know some people may debate with me about who started colorism okay hundreds of years ago some of the white people did it fine and dandy. But who keeps the colorism going? The maker of the Smoochr website is a black man. So instead of pulling people together he’s is causing more separation and insecurities of others.

I am black but my shade is brown. I’m what would be considered to be in between dark-skinned and light-skinned. Growing up I never paid attention to shade but I have witnessed dark-skinned people being bullied based on their color as if growing up wasn’t hard enough. It is still very much present today. I have also heard people of a dark skin talk about being insecure and hating their skin color. It’s just horrible and it needs to end. The only test that a paper bag should have is how much weight it can hold. At the end of the day we all check off the box for black regardless of our shade. I don’t care who slams me we must do better. Let’s lift up one another high. Stop hurting one another and let’s heal one another. I get the past but what are we doing now to move forward in a positive way. It’s the only way that change will happen.

The Material Girl’s Prince Tribute
Many of Prince fans wasn’t happy about Madonna paying tribute to him on the Billboards Awards. It has been years since I have watched an award show I guess because of the music being made in the recent years. Like how is most of it even award worthy. Which gets me to thinking about the people who started a petition to stop Madonna from performing as if those people have a clue about real music Yeah I said, I’m just saying.
Now I will admit that I am partial to Madonna I’ve been a fan of hers every since I was very young. My mother bought me her 45s and LPs for my stereo which had a record player. Even with that being said she’s still a fantastic artist she and Prince were both red hot in the 80s. Yes it takes big shoes order to fill Prince’s legacy and the same applies for Madonna. It makes sense to think of picking her to pay tribute.
If we’re up to me I would have had various artists performing their favorite songs by Prince Lenny Kravitz being one of them. I watched Madonna tribute to Prince on YouTube it was pretty good Stevie Wonder joined her singing Nothing Compares To You. Prince wrote the song and Sinead O’Connor sang it which was a huge hit. Hmmmmmm I think I will share it on What’s Tameeka listening to? At the end of the day a true fan of an artist must be a music lover to understand the depth of music. Kind like a football so called fan who bails out when a team lose or a Walking Dead so called fan refusing to watch it if Daryl dies they are not true fans just a group of people looking for something to complain about. Madonna did well if people have a problem why don’t they try to do it doubt if they will be successful. Ummmmm Yeah I Said.
