Gossip and Christianity

Whether it’s on the phone, in person, text messaging or Facebook as Christians we know better about gossiping. It needs to stop it isn’t my opinion I have scriptures to support what I am saying. Tame Your Tongue. Proverbs 16:28 A forward man soweth strife: and a whisperer separateth chief friends.  Proverbs 20:19 He that goeth about [as] a talebearer revealeth secrets: therefore meddle not with him that flattereth with his lips.

The Tears That We Cry

Yes we try to smile

But behind it

Lies a pain

That’s unbearable

And so very horrible

It’s when someone  special dies

It causes so much hurt inside

No matter how much

Time goes by

Still feels like the day

That the person died

We miss them so much

Wishing that they

We’re still here on Earth

There will always be

A huge hole in our hearts

A band aid nor a first aid kit

Can not fix the damage

Still with God’s help

We try to manage to

Take it day by day

As long as we remember them

Thinking of all the good

That they have done

We can carry them in our hearts

All we can do is try

To understand God’s plan

Of who He chooses

To call home to Heaven

We have to trust

This will help us

Believing and knowing

That we will see them again

May God comfort us always

During our time of sorrow

Where Is The Love?

This week has been one of much loss Chyna the wrestler, Doris Roberts and Prince.Yesterday was an extremely sad day for me. Yes it was the day that Prince passed away but it was far more deeper than that. There were a few Christians ( by the way a few is too many) criticizing Prince come on the man is gone. Just because they no longer listen to secular music doesn’t give them the right to speak on the dead. I don’t care what anybody says. How would they like it if it were their souls that others were speaking on?

The name Christian has Christ in it some Christians really have me wondering whether Christ is in them. They have the judging part down to a science however lack other things like being humble Proverbs 16:19 Better it is to be of an humble spirit with the lowly, than to divide the spoil with the proud. No one should act so super spiritual that they forget where they came from. Otherwise that’s being self centered or vain whichever word you choose. Christians are to be merciful Matthew 5:7 Blessed are the merciful: they shall obtain mercy. Everything one of us has experienced loss so let’s have some compassion for others.

I will not pretend that I know where Prince soul is because I don’t. What I do know he died alone, there are millions of people who loved him and that God is the only one who came save him. How do any one us know where he is now? Some of the characteristics of certain Christians are that of the Pharisees and not of Christ. We wonder why so many Christians are slipping away or outsiders don’t want anything to do with our faith. As far as I am concerned the true proof of your walk with Christ is the number of people who come to you wanting to be saved. How many people have approached you? One thing is for sure negative words can’t saved Prince soul he has already passed on. We are to never forget that no one is too far gone that God can’t saved them and that includes Prince as well.

Tameeka’s Opinions

Even though this is my first blog there are a few things that I have learned thus far. If everyone agrees with everything that you say than your not being real enough. My whole goal with my blog is to talk about things that people think about but are afraid to speak about. So when a topic that is rarely discussed is brought up it sometimes can cause a ruckus. Still it won’t stop me from bring it up. I’m not a negative so I’m mostly positive however assuming that life for a Christian is all peaches and cream is not being realistic. Christians have there ups and downs as well therefore people should not have their eyes fixed on us but on one who we put our trust in which is Christ. If one looks at us focus on our testimonies and how we endured. Besides that we are human just like everyone else.

I am open to other people’s opinions and suggestions too. The more that you know the more that you grow. In this last month I have gained so much knowledge from many bloggers whether it’s pertaining to writing skills, getting new followers or ways to overcome writers block this will be a very interesting journey for sure. The most important things about this journey is I get a chance to really look within me as well. This is definitely a fantastic learning experience and I’m so glad that I started this blog. There is so much more to come from Be Lifted. Stay tuned.

A Second Chance

God is a God of second chances still when is it okay for us to offer it. When should we be open to giving something or someone a second chance.  There are so many scenarios and it’s best to look at both sides of the coin.  First and foremost  pray to God  for me many situations in my past would have went smoother had I done this. As everyone can tell I’m an optimist and a realist as well it’s like driving you have to be an offensive and defensive driver. Another thing about me is that I can be incredibly stubborn it takes a lot for me to give up on anyone or anything however when I do I’m done.

We have to evaluate what’s worth giving something another try and what isn’t. It takes removing the blinders and being completely honest about a situation. For instance like being in a relationship or marriage and our mate hurts us. Now let’s be clear anytime we take a chance in love there’s a chance of getting hurt maybe not intentionally it still happens. I guess it’s about looking at what took place and  filtering whether it was a choice or a mistake. Like with cheating it is a choice always still what made the person cheat its a selfish act absolutely I believe in scratching beneath the surface always. Did the person who cheated feel ignored?  Were they deprived of intimacy? Is the person who cheated selfish? Whatever answer that you come up with is how you move forward.

Forgiveness is something that we must do it’s not just for the person who hurt us but for us as well. When we forgive it sets us free from bitterness. We should not confuse forgiveness with trusting a person again. To forgive is to not hold a grudge and trusting leaves room for the opportunity of a second chance. Just because we forgive a person it doesn’t mean that we allow ourselves to be hurt again.

Can Christians Be Sexy?

Sexy- sexually attractive or exciting

I am very inquisitive I believe there’s no such thing as a dumb question. If you don’t know ask it never hurts. Question: Are Christians allowed to be sexy? Some people think that being sexy is about the clothes that one wears that is just part of it I feel that sexy is being confident and tasteful at the same time. People have different opinions on certain words. For me I feel why not be sexy just don’t go overboard. It’s fine to be sexy for your husband what’s wrong with making sure that you are the apple of his eye. Doing things like staying fit and always looking close to how you did when you two first met. Ask a person that you trust whether or not if what you are wearing is appropriate. If it makes you feel uncomfortable then chances are it isn’t.

There was a picture floating around the internet pertaining to a lady who was standing in church if what she wore was appropriate for church. Now this is not what I  mean also in this situation I believe that she may was just coming to the faith perhaps it was all that she had. It’s never good to judge, a picture may can speak a thousand words but which one of them are true? Unless it comes straight from the horse’s mouth what you think holds no value really. Perhaps the very lovely Marilyn Monroe said it best “Your clothes should be tight enough to show you’re a woman and loose enough to be a lady. Sexy is being confident and classy at the same time. Yes when we decide to become a Christian there are things that we are to no longer do that’s so true that includes our attitudes and choice of clothing too. When the holy spirit is within us he will definitely be our guide.  I think that God doesn’t mind us being proud of the temple that He gave to us. Just not too proud of course.
