The Story of My Life

Growing up my walls were plastered with posters of Skid Row, Kiss, Cinderella etc. My mother bought me t-shirts with Guns N Roses and Pantera on them. I’ve never went a long with what was considered to be the collective of the black community. I listen to all music but metal/ rock music is my favorite besides the lyrics in the rap music of today are disrespectful. I’m not interested in music that constantly degrades women it just isn’t cool. There are some women who listens to this kind of music with the excuse of well they aren’t talking about me. Which is so completely lame. Some of these rappers only concern is to make money not even wanting a gold or platinum record like how it was years ago. Rappers years ago wanted to make positive changes in the community. Things are so different from years ago that it almost breaks my heart.

The thing about the internet and social media people are able to connect and tell their truths. I can totally relate about being told that I’m not black enough because of my choices in music, social views etc. What’s being black enough anyway? Isn’t my skin color enough? I never understood the phrases “acting white” or “not being black enough”. Still I’ve heard this most of my life. It only kept me isolated when I was young. I can definitely relate to this video it’s the story of my life.

What’s Really the Problem?

Not too long ago I wrote about a post that a white woman wrote addressing black people. She questioned why some black people had an issue when one or the other dates outside of the race. It was definitely crazy how she pointed that out.

The Justin McClure’s situation has gotten crazy and nerve racking. Like leave that man in peace to love his family. It’s sickening how some of the people from the black community are behaving. I question what’s really the issue. To be honest the only people that he needs to answer to is his family.

I’m not giving up on hope for some black women they will come around eventually. I can’t name all of the things that my mother used to tell me and now I see what she meant. We have to extend the same courtesy to others because none us woke up and just got something. A lot of the reasons why we make the choices that we make is because something influenced it. Most people ask for advice for a reason whether they choose to accept it is another.

Why do some black people take delight in other people’s pain? It’s disgusting because it’s only exposing how people truly are. Waiting to be able to say I knew that they wasn’t perfect. Well who told you to put a human being on a pedestal so high done with the hopes that they will fall. Just so you can talk about it. Blackheartedness that is plain ugly. Vengeful spirited people scare me because they obsess about destroying a person. They don’t stop until their vengeance is fulfilled. And do you know what’s even more scary how hungry that they are about making it happen. Literally starving almost foaming at the mouth like a ravage dog. Instead of putting that kind of energy into leading a productive life. Some people are so freaking spiteful.

My mother used to say that some black people are like crabs in a basket. Crabs in a basket means a syndrome where a group of like situated people hurt those in their community attempting to get ahead. Often this is applied to people in an impoverished community where one person is starting to get ahead. The collective community becomes jealous or filled with a sense of self-loathing, so they find a way to pull that person back down to the community’s level.
When harvesting crab, the crab as a group will pull down any crab that starts to climb out of the barrel in an attempt to be the first out of the barrel that holds them in, hence crabs-in-a-barrel.

My mother dated only black men she wasn’t a swirler but she was a truth teller. She was born in the 50s so she witnessed a lot of stuff pertaining to some black people. Is that the problem? Some black people have a crab in a basket syndrome? If that is not the case then quit going after other people’s happiness as if you are on a witchhunt. Level up in the spirit regardless of your beliefs that way you’ll learn to be in competition with yourself and not obsess about destroying others.

Like a Sister

We see it on television or social media every day a person who was considered to be a sister who betrayed another in the worse way. Is there any true sisterhood anymore? Are there any loyal sisters today?

It’s all about the respect and the value that people choose to place on things like friendships, relationships, marriages, and yes sisterhood.

I saw a beautiful post and it’s so how I am. The post said ” I am a woman’s woman and a faithful friend. I won’t run off with your man. I won’t hate you because you’re beautiful. I’ll celebrate your success as my own. I’ll keep your secrets and listen to your rants. I choose my friends carefully and if I choose you, I’ll love you like a sister.

I don’t take pleasure in pulling other sisters down. No matter where I am in life through my highs and lows I am never stingy with a compliment. If a sister has lost weight, a new place, new hair-do I will tell her, that I am proud, that she’s beautiful. Never will I undermine a sister’s accomplishment she deserves her props. One thing I don’t do and that’s jock another sister’s style, I am a confident woman I don’t constantly need the spotlight.

This world is already wicked and filled with heartless hateful people. Being negative is easy to do, seeing the best in people can be hard if we focus on the bad things only. There is peace in positivity.

Being mean and fault finding all the time isn’t healthy it’s good to have awareness of the negative people and situations. However, it’s good to enjoy things as well as people that come along.

I choose to believe that there are still good people and that means sisters of every color. Flowers bloom together, they don’t compete because each has their own unique beauty. I’m keeping faith about true sisterhood. It exists.

Love’s Dog

We all want to feel it
Yet we all fear it
Nobody wants to be love’s dog
Love is so beautiful
Yet it can be so painful
Seems like nobody wants
To love only one person for
All of eternity anymore
Love today
And it’s gone tomorrow
How can something
That was once so amazing
Be over
Nobody wants to be love’s dog
We become acquainted with love
Then somehow gradually let it go
Feelings that were once mutual gone
Days of laughter
Become sorrow
How can two people
Who seems to have the right chemistry
Relationships’ have an unhappy ending
It’s a mystery
Past situations should have taught us
How to endure
To help us to love better
In the future
We want to front on the person
Whom we want our forever with
We refuse to think
Beyond temperamental differences and bad memories
In our quest to love
We must think differently
It’s truly essential
But things can’t take off because
Nobody wants to be love’s dog
From lovely days to
Lonely days
We close the entrances to our hearts
That have been damaged severely
From heartache, broken trust,
And major disappointments
All by the one whom we thought was appointed
To us beyond a belief moment
Nobody wants to be love’s dog
The world today
Sleeps on opportunities
Instead of ceases it
Treating it like a layaway
As if true love waits
And never goes away
We all want a happily ever after
But love’s unpredictability
Can be too much to bare
Nobody wants to be love’s dog

The Pain Inside

People who aren’t fans will never

Understand they say that we idolize

They think that we are going overboard

For wanting you to receive

The proper recognition that you deserve

I mean who really thinks that what

Took place at the billboard awards

Was proper I mean it was absurd

A moment of silence that lasted

For like a blink of an eye

Because they don’t realize

How your music impacted our lives

How your music got us through

Very tough times

Through tears that we cried

Sometimes day and night

When there was no one in sight

Who we could trust or confide in

Without them passing judgement

People have absolutely no clue

About how the feeling of depression

Can seduce you

Thoughts of negativity

That swarms the mind

The worse part of it

Clueless people think that depression

Is of darkness

They truly have no idea

Depression just is

Anytime it can happen

Like at a finger’s snap

And no one is exempt

Women, men, teen, poor or rich

It swallows you into an abyss

It’s victims constantly

Long for freedom’s kiss

The pain hits hard like a fist

People must understand that no one

Willingly choose to feel like this

I’ve been depression’s victim

Feeling it squeeze the emotions

From out of my body

Had me walking around like a zombie

Thankful for your music

Coming to the rescue

Yes I smile

But behind it

Lies a pain

Like nothing that

I have ever felt before

I am mourning you

Crying the blues

Praying to God

Because I don’t know

What to do

This pain is killing me inside

No one will ever know the reason

Behind what I am feeling inside

I am trying hard to deal with

The pain right now

Is so unreal

Wishing that we had

More time to hear

More of your melodies

More time to enjoy

More memories

Of concerts, new music and videos

Now we are left with wondering

What another albums

Could have been in store

For us to enjoy

Why were you taken away

From us so soon

Your voice could sing any genre

Loved your covers of Billie Jean

And Nothing Compares 2 U

Your lyrics were always just

What we needed

Your music was everything

I say this with the utmost sincerity

From the looks of it

The pain that I am feeling ending

Appears to be nowhere in sight

People who aren’t fans

Will never understand

The treasure that was lost

The Aftermath

A person can tell what I stand for just by reading my blog and that’s for Jesus Christ. As Americans we have the right to vote and regardless of what anyone says or feels the outcome is clear Trump is the president-elect. Every election things flip flops a democrat is placed into the White House then a republican that’s what makes this country great we have the luxury of enforcing change by our say so, which is by our vote.

People are protesting and really there’s nothing that can be done. Trump won and that’s that. We have to respect what has happened. Being a Christian my faith is in Jesus Christ and not man. Worrying, being negative and angry will do nothing at all it solves nothing. What people have to understand is that just because a person voted for Trump doesn’t make them racist it makes them a republican. News flash the people who voted for Trump wasn’t white only but every color so the hateful comments most cease. I have Facebook friends of every race and some of them are Trump supporters. I am not getting salty behind someone else’s choice it’s their right. Question how do people know who voted for Trump unless they say it and apparently regardless of his lack of experience amongst other things didn’t change the outcome. So how do we handle the aftermath of the election? We respect the results and give Trump a chance if he doesn’t do well in four years return back to the polls and allow your voice to be heard just like what happened this time.

I’m praying for our nation that everyone goes forward with an opened mind and open heart. This land is your land this land is my land let’s do the best that we can. Together we stand divided we fall and we will all feel it. I will continue to put my faith in God who’s in control of America and beyond. God is in control of you and me one day we all will see it. Believe that! I don’t have to see God to know who’s really in charge even though He’s shown His power through events in my life several times. Everything will be alright we all just have to believe it the first step is acceptance that will help things to smooth over in a positive way. Blessings to all.

Michel’le

As I always I share about how I absolutely love all music growing up I listened to everything including NWA one of its members brought out Michel’le. Growing up I was no different from other kids I’d get hooked on a song’s beats and did not pay attention to the lyrics. NWA was one of the hip hop groups who had a lack of respect for women big time. The saddest part is some of us black women continue to support negative music and get upset about the affects of it. I read a post that was quite disturbing it was basically making up excuses for artists who choose their lyrics blaming the environment. Here’s an idea try writing something more positive and uplifting hip hop was once that way a very long time ago.

Michel’le debut album was titled Michel’le the song no more lies was one of my favorites. It’s amazing how we feel that celebrities are so much different from us but they are not….they are human too with problems just like the rest of us sometimes more. She has a movie that’s coming out in October on Lifetime and yes I will be watching it. There are a lot of critics talking about this movie but it’s all good. It’s important to be able to tell our own story no one else knows it better but God.
