Three Years Strong
Hooray!!! Happy Birthday to Be Lifted.
Ever since I was young I loved to write. I remember the day that I decided to become a blogger. It seems almost like yesterday when I started my blog. It’s my blog that consists of my thoughts, poetry, diet lifestyles, and choices of music.
Three years later Be Lifted is still going strong. I look forward to many more years of blogging.
My Blog
The whole reason why I have a blog is to express myself freely. I will never become a famous blogger nor do I want to be.
My blog is a hobby. As I have wrote before I am a very relaxed writer. It’s what I do because I can.
I’m a college student and I get mostly A’s on my assignments.
I consider myself to be a smart lady. I have no time for trolls or the grammar police. Regardless I’m going to keep doing what I do. More than likely the trolls that come for me don’t even have a bachelor’s degree probably barely have a G.E.D because they didn’t finish high school. Sweep around your own front door before you sweep around mine.
Forgive My Grammar
They’re or their. You’re or your. Prescriptive grammar, misplaced modifier, faulty pronoun reference, and many others, it can sometimes make people question your intellect. However, we all have been guilty of making grammar errors. I write on my blog alone without help, unlike other bloggers. Sometimes I will have a thought and blog about it. A lot of times, I will reread my posts later to check for things that I may have missed.
I’m not above making mistakes in my writing. Heck, I have found errors in newspapers and textbooks, which is why I don’t get pressed about the grammar police.
Steve Vai said something really cool. He said, don’t worry about what other people think about what you do as long as you love it. He further went on to say that if he had listened to people the song “For the Love of God” would not have been. A friend of his told him that it terrible but it turned out to be one of his biggest hits. To all of the grammar police out there, please excuse my errors. You know what I mean!!!
Moment of Silence
Let me start off by saying that I have Not watched an award show since the 90s as far as I am concerned today’s music isn’t good music at all. In my day artist cared about making a great album and not just making a hit song. Man, where did music go wrong? The artist from the 80s and 90s helps the music of today to be halfway worth listening to. The music today samples a lot of the old music of yesterday. With that being said I am Not pleased about the tribute that was given to Chris Cornell a moment of silence!? Like you folks have to be kidding me!! Chris Cornell deserved way more than a moment of silence.
Yeah, I know it sounds like I’m in my feelings well that’s because I am. I am beyond disappointed. I’m glad that I don’t watch award shows especially the Billboards awards they’re absolute garbage anyway. Chris Cornell passed way on a Wednesday and you are telling me that they couldn’t come up with a better tribute than what he got?! Stick a fork in me because I’m done. Nothing against Cher, Celine Dion or Drake if you like watching your grandma parading around in sheer garments at 71, a walking white rose that has been plucked from dress and synthesized voices. Enlighten me were those the original outfits Cher wore when I was a teenager I have got to know?! Ummmm Cher you cannot turn back time you’re a grandma’s age no disrespect. What was Celine Dion wearing last night?! Drake won an award nothing against synthesized voices however Robert Troutman did it better just ask 2Pac California Love baby!!!
If I was in charge of giving a tribute for Chris Cornell it would have been truly memorable. The moment of silence didn’t last because the people in the audience didn’t have enough respect to stay silent for long. What can I say that’s just the way of the world. Okay I am done ranting. On a lighter note U2, Dave Mustaine, Areosmith, Queensryche, Red Hot Chili Peppers and Metallica gave a tribute to Chris Cornell. Thank goodness for the artist from years ago they are keeping great music alive.
We Are Not Same
Everyone is distinctive
In his or her own way
We are not the same
This is something that should be taught
To every child on their first school day
Each one of us
Have our own fingerprints and DNA
Black people come in different shades
White people have different
Hair and eye color
Asian people have Chinese, Japanese
Filipino, Pakistani, and Korean
Can you see where I am going with this
These things helps us to stand up
And stand out
From one another
We are not the same
Every woman can wear a size 8
And will still be different shapes
Some people are tall
Some people are short
Take the time to embrace
What makes people different
Do it as a way to appreciate it
And not as a way to copy it
To copy is to compete
You will forget why you are unique
You never want to lose yourself
Because you may never
Find yourself ever again
Being a person who follow trends
Regardless of a person
Trying to be the same
Least common factors
Will always remain
Apply this analogy to snowflakes
In your mind allow it to resonate
When we realize that being different
Is actually us being ourselves
It’s a blessing like nothing else
Differences help to make
This world beautiful
If everything were the same
We would not have things like the
Rainbow it requires
Various colors to make it complete
Even roses come in different colors
One life touches another
Different life stories with many pages
That are to encourage and inspire
It’s how God gets His glory
We must be the person
Who God called us to be
We are not the same
That will never change
And you know what
It’s okay
Black Love Day
Everyone already knows where I stand on the subject of black love. In my opinion love has no color, love is a feeling that joins two people together. Love is loving a person even when they are being unlovable and there will be days like that. If a person’s love has limitations then it isn’t love but perhaps the other four letter word which is lust. Many people confuse love and lust. If a person isn’t involved with you for the long haul then don’t entertain them at all. Don’t waste your time because life is too short for that.
Anyway back on topic Black Love Day was founded by Ayo Handy Kendi director of the African American Holiday Association in 1993. I never knew about Black Love Day until today one of my Facebook friends posted about it, she’s very knowledgeable. I’m very thankful for her posts I have learned so much from her.
Everyone has so many goals and that’s great what about a person to spend your life with. God created Eve for Adam He intended for us all to love. Today people don’t stick and stay because they don’t do things God’s way! I truly pray that everyone finds the person who God has for them. God doesn’t want us to be alone that’s why He made marriage and marriage is suppose to be until death.
When it comes to love there will be good days and bad days. The goods days helps a couple to weather the storm of the bad. The bad days gets a couple to draw strength so they can enjoy more good days. Love doesn’t fade. Love is patient and kind. Love is understanding. When a person truly loves a person one does whatever it takes to hold things together. When a couple truly love one another many test will come but they have to do the work to pass them. When a couple is truly in love outsiders will be jealous and will try to bring drama. A couple have to have trust and work as a team to keep negative things out. When two people love one another it’s forever regardless of their skin color. Can I get a Woot Woot?!
The Day Will Come
Goooooooooooood Morning to all!! I got my cup of coffee ready!! Yum Yum Yummy!! My Dallas Cowboys was on a bye this week. That really sucked for me on the bright side the Walking Dead made it’s return. There’s a lot of mixed reviews and emotions about it. I made a podcast about it. The show called the Day Will Come was a very emotional episode. I’m not just a Daryl Dixon fan but a Norman Reedus fan. He’s a brilliant actor and person. The so much more to come from the Walking Dead hang in there I know that I am!!!
New Lifestyle
As I have shared I took a nutritional class and I have decided to become Vegan. I have been a Vegan for about 21 days. It is said that it takes 21 days to make or break a habit so I feel comfortable discussing about being Vegan.
Vegan and Vegetarian are Not the same vegan is a plant based diet. A vegan does not eat animals or things that comes from animals such as milk, cheese or eggs. Some vegetarians eat fish, chicken, eggs and cheese occasionally. Vegan is all or nothing so I am riding with that. I’m pretty proud of myself I have so much energy meat can make a person feel weighed down. The holidays are quickly approaching so now is the best time it’s as good of time as any. There are so many delicious vegan recipes I can’t wait to try them all.
To be honest I haven’t been a huge meat eater so that help me out a lot. Since I just recently took on this lifestyle I’m not pushing it on my sons. Even though my sons are not huge meat eater they enjoy meat when they eat it thus I will not force them to become Vegan. There are various people who I follow on YouTube who are Vegan and some are black. Yes there are black people who enjoy the Vegan lifestyle myself included. January is try Vegan month give it a try and see what happens. I love it!! I am Vegan!! Yes!
Tameeka Simply I
Regardless of the number
Of the number of ladies
Who share my name
There’s only one with my
Personality and identity
I embrace my traits
The positive ones
And the negative ones
Negative things I
Give them antonyms
The positive things
I multiply with synonyms
Possessive becomes protective
Stubborn becomes determine
Weak becomes sensitive
Odd becomes unique
Passive becomes tolerant
Strict becomes punctilious
Old fashioned becomes standards
God made me
Who I am
And I say it proudly
I’m intelligent and funny
I’m heroic yet humble
I’m selfless and passionate
I’m skillful and helpful
My favorite thing prayer warrior
Daily I grow
I’ll let it all show
Not being boastful
As long as God knows
That’s all that matters
He made me to be awesome
I’m aware of my strength
And weakness too
Never am I ashamed
To admit to the truth
My spirit is beautiful
I stand by the people
Who I care about
Love ones as well
I love everyone
Anyone can tell
My passion everyday gets bolder
Standing tall like a British soldier
Always fighting for what
I believe in
Even though I am human
I don’t looks for rewards from man
Because I understand
That Jesus can
Do anything for me
He’s all that I need
With Him in my corner
I’m not afraid to be vulnerable
After all kindness in my nature
When you have the understanding
Of who God has called you to be
You know who you are
You then can fulfill your purpose
Which is to help others
I’m ready to do my job
In God’s kingdom
