Above anything, I identify with Christianity
I’m a black woman second
My walk with Christ
Gets tested because
That enemy of ours satan
Is behind the scene
Concocting schemes
I can see it
My heart breaks over George Floyd’s death
I don’t support police brutality
I’m merely saying that
It’s a situation that touches everybody
To a certain degree
Don’t believe me?
Just watch the tv
Listen how people speak
Protesting peacefully
Can get a lot more done
Instead of burning down buildings
Just ask Dr. King
After the smoke clears
Where will people go to shop
For groceries or clothing?
Let’s not forget about COVID-19
It’s still out there
We cry the same kind of tears
We bleed the same color
Our organs can cross racial lines too
I’m going to do what I do best
That’s pray
Look to the cross
Because God is the boss
I look for reasons to understand
And love
Not hate
Some may disagree
That’s fine
All I know is that
One can’t dismiss
The power of something
That they don’t even
Acknowledge that it exists
Unless a bad situation happens
Then it’s “Where is your God now???”
My God is still sitting on the throne
He’s mighty, powerful and true
I’m not adding to
The darkness of hate
It would be a mistake
People of every race are
My sisters and brothers
The same way that I have
This kind of view
They do too
Which is a blessing in my book

k.d.lang
k.d.lang is a Canadian born singer-songwriter who helped to make the 80s and 90s awesome. She has one of the most beautiful voices in the business. My favorite song by her is called “Constant Craving”. When she was on MTV Unplugged her voice sounded just like the album; the entire performance was flawless
For the people of today MTV Unplugged performances are for musicians with true talent. In other words no studio effects like Auto-Tunes are allowed. Auto-Tunes is nothing more than pitch-correcting technology used to correct flawed voices!!! Yeah I said it! LMBO!!!
k.d.lang is currently on The Ingenue Redux US Tour. The Grammy winner recently won an award from the Americana Awards. When you get a chance check out her music it’s what I am listening to today. I guarantee that her voice will have you craving for more constantly!
What’s Tameeka Listening to?
Just when I thought that Jack White could NOT top himself, he does it again.I love Jack White so much! The way that Jack White did the cover of Jolene was amazing! Check out the song! Jolene is Dolly Parton’s song and I love the way she sings it too! Close your eyes and image Jack White singing these lyrics!!
Jolene, Jolene, Jolene, Jolene,
I’m begging of you: please don’t take my man
Jolene, Jolene, Jolene, Jolene,
Please don’t take him just because you can
Your beauty is beyond compare
With flaming locks of auburn hair
With ivory skin and eyes of emerald green
Your smile is like a breath of spring
Your voice is soft like summer rain
And I cannot compete with you, Jolene
He talks about you in his sleep
There’s nothing I can do to keep
From crying when he calls your name, Jolene
And I can easily understand
How you could easily take my man
But you don’t know what he means to me, Jolene
Jolene, Jolene, Jolene, Jolene,
I’m begging of you: please don’t take my man
Jolene, Jolene, Jolene, Jolene,
Please don’t take him just because you can
You could have your choice of men
But I could never love again
He’s the only one for me, Jolene
I had to have this talk with you
My happiness depends on you
And whatever you decide to do, Jolene
Jolene, Jolene, Jolene, Jolene,
I’m begging of you: please don’t take my man
Jolene, Jolene, Jolene, Jolene,
Please don’t take him even though you can
Jolene, Jolene
Sometimes I Wanna
Sometimes I wanna
Just listen to the guitar riffs
Of a song alone
So that I can imagine
How the guitarist
Created it as they hummed
Guitar riffs are something that rock,
Funk and jazz music
All sometimes can share
Sometimes I wanna blare my music
As I intensely cheer
Sometimes I wanna
Listen to the strings playing on a banjo
Tunes of country music with words
Of sadness and heartbreak to it
Sometimes I wanna line dance
And slap leather to the sound of a fiddle
Music brings all kinds of people together
It transcends across
The lines of racial boundaries
Sometimes I wanna relax
And listen to Luther’s smooth, soulful voice
That man could sing anything
He gave R & B true meaning
His legacy will always be
Sometimes I wanna
Hear great Hip Hop music
But not too much of the ones of today
It only makes me ponder
About the artist of yesterday
Boogie Down Production,
Public Enemy and Eric B and Rakim
Made me proud to listen to them
Sometimes I wanna hear an artist
Like Phil Anselmo
And Jonathan Davis screaming
What can I say
I am a metalhead all the way
Sometimes I wanna
Hear rock artist singing
Like Chris Cornell and Jack White
There is nothing like
Listening to Steve Vai
While looking at a starry sky
It’s like I am enjoying the beauty
Of the scenes to a beautiful movie
Forgive me for being a music fan
Who gets bored easily
From hearing the same things daily
Which is good actually
Variety is the spice of life
My taste in music is one of diversity
There is nothing
Like being able to appreciate
Music from every genre
From House to Techno
From Indie Pop to Gospel
From Reggae to classical
Each one has their own particular way
Of telling a story through song
That is uniquely done
What’s Tameeka Listening To?
Very few people will know the reason why I shared this song and where I heard it from. Johnny Cash is the man in black. Country music is great music too there are lots of Johnny Cash’s songs that I do love. Still I will admit that I knew nothing about this song until recently. I’m glad that I heard it. I love it. Check it out:
