Culture Awareness

Recently I finished a course in Intercultural Competence and it taught me a lot of new things when it comes to interacting with different cultures. In order to become aware of other cultures it helps to become aware of your own. I have learned that once we understand others cultures; we can then appreciate them, establish a relationship and build an alliance. To build a strong community it takes a large number of people to make it work. Each culture is unique and has perspectives and strengths that any community can benefit from. Having an understanding of every culture can help us to overcome as well as avoid ethnic and racial divisions. A community can win when people don’t struggle with the vision of what a fair, moral and harmonious society is. There are many cultures and of course many of us would like to know about them all a good way to start is finding out about who lives in our community, the kind of diversity that already exists, the struggles that exist between the cultures, the struggles that are openly recognized and the kinds of issues that the different cultures have in common.

When it comes to having a community that is united there certain steps that should be taken and there are things that should not be done as well. Let’s use the African-American culture as an example there has been a lot of bad things that have taken place. There is still a lot of hurt that has turned into anger which is present in America to this very day. Even though I am an African-American one thing is true making people feel guilty for what their ancestors have done hundreds of years ago will not help diversity to become effective. People tend to change when they don’t feel condemned or guilt tripped. One day I saw a post from a Facebook friend she actually apologized for what her ancestors had done hundreds of years ago and I commented telling her that it was unnecessary. It may come as a shock to many but I get called names a lot like sellout and even accused of not being true to my culture. I have gotten slammed on several occasions all because of my views. My Christian beliefs help to keep me hopeful no matter how a situation looks like. In my opinion when it comes to bring cultures together everyone must be included, a solution of what can be done to solve the issues with hope of getting it done together is a huge step into the right direction. Having a strong community can only happen by  people working together from every culture this will help to build a strong relationship that has a core.

As I have written in the beginning getting to know one’s own culture and other cultures builds bridges that can connect people in addition recognizing the differences is important too. Many times people don’t want to recognize cultures differences out of fear that it may cause division however it’s actually on the contrary. Learning about other cultures can actually bring people closer together. When people are aware of other cultures they learn how to interact without negativity happening. A mind closed mind is not open to knowledge and so ignorance grows. It’s important that we all keep in mind that regardless of our cultures being different we all have feelings,we are human beings and we are all God’s Children.

Galatians 3:26

For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus.

I’m Not Surprised

Recently a former pastor has been making the news by the name of Kevin Wesley. Kevin Wesley is a black man who says that he cannot lie to black people anymore about Christianity. One thing that disturbs me about nonbelievers is why can’t they not believe in Christ allllll by themselves why must they make it their mission to poison other people with their toxic views? Nonbelievers always complain about Christian people “cramming” our beliefs down their throats but aren’t they doing the same thing that they complain about? Most Christians spread the Word of God out of love we have no intentions of hurting anyone. The things that most Christians  do is done out of love.

The former pastor Kevin Wesley has me very skeptical about his intentions there are far from pure. Wesley made a point to say that he cannot lie to black people anymore which is trying to cause some division within the body of Christ. I understand why some black people have a problem with Christianity the Bible describes Christ as one way but we have seen pictures of something different. Let’s think Christ was around long before slavery did white people years ago abuse the Bible? Yes they did. Still we must take our eyes off of man and focus on God. Even the slaves had faith in Christ some of our best hymns came from them. There are many taking positions in the church and they weren’t called to do it in the first place 1 Timothy 1:11-12. Yeah  I said it! We can’t have weak people leading the church with their bad intentions. If  you wasn’t call sit down and stop causing people to fall. I refuse to allow a person who wasn’t called by God send me to hell. We must stay awake!!! No sleeping. Times are getting far too dangerous.

Everyday God shows us His work from the time when we wake up until the time we go to sleep. He demonstrates how faith is the thing that we need the most to survive think about it the one thing we need the most to live is the one thing that we cannot see and it’s all around us…air. In life there will be ups and downs just because you are a Christian doesn’t mean we won’t have to endure hardship. We can’t have a rainbow without the rain or a baby without labor pains. I don’t hate nonbelievers I pray for them because whatever is hurting them is cause them to hurt others.

Here’s my take Christians should cut off anyone who doesn’t respect our beliefs and pray for them. Our Christian beliefs is what keeps us strong in a very cruel world. I am not surprised at all about people falling away from the church Christ warned us of this.

Matthew 24:10-13

10 And then shall many be offended, and shall betray one another, and shall hate one another.

11 And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many.

12 And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold.

13 But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.

Do Nice Guys Finish Last?

Recently I watched a video and the guy was saying that nice guys always finishes last that mean guys get the beautiful girls. Immediately it got me to thinking about last according to whom? Who’s race was he watching? We all have hopes, dreams and wants I get it. But we cannot get caught up in man’s race. If we look at others as competition and try to keep up with what they are doing then of course you will come in last. When we try to race in someone’s else race we will always finish last in someone else’s race; it’s not our race.

I don’t know about man’s race but  I know that God keeps His promises every last one of them. God does not lie because He can’t lie!!! God’s timing is perfect. It’s okay to glance at other people’s blessings as an inspiration only not as a competition. Everything that God does is incredible especially His blessings. If we stare at other people’s blessings like driving on the road staring at another car we will miss our turn. If we keep our eyes on the road that God has destined for us only we can win. No one can finish last in their own race. Being in competition with others is very unhealthy anyway we need to focus on the road that God has already mapped out for us individually.

Wedding Rings

I truly believe that healed people heal others that’s why  I don’t mind discussing events that have taken place in my life it’s done with the hopes of helping someone else. Think about the Bible everyone in it had some sort of battle that they all overcame with God’s help of course. God wanted us to see ordinary people tackle everyday problems with the help of an extraordinary God!

Back on topic it seems like every channel I watch are promoting commercials about wedding rings it’s Christmas which is the time when most people get engaged. A wedding ring though it is a small piece of jewelry it’s meaning is very significant. A wedding ring is worn on the fourth finger on the left hand because it was believed that the vein in the fourth finger ran directly to the heart. It’s sad that some people don’t take wearing their wedding rings seriously which is the reason marriage end it’s not taken seriously. Marriage is a covenant and not a contract; God intended it to last for a lifetime. A marriage can only survive on the foundation that is Christ based, loving freely and unconditionally committing. Marriage is not something that we pick and choose to do when we want to. I wish that  I knew these things years ago I sure hope that this help someone somewhere.

So marry the person who you can’t see yourself without. Marry the person who is your best friend. Marry the person who regardless of who comes along your love reminds strong.  Marry the one who you can’t stop thinking about or talking to. Marry the one who makes you better and even when you don’t feel your best they treat you like you are. Marry the one that even if the ring came from a bubble machine they would wear it proudly.

Wear your wedding ring always it’s not about the value of it but about the person whom you are married to for they are priceless.

Genesis 2:24

Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh.

He Showed Me

As I have shared I am a Christian woman who is going through a divorce. Divorce is not good it affects everyone that’s involved in one way or another especially the children. Divorce is hard because when you get married the goal is for it to last forever. I’m very old fashioned so I was kicking myself the whole time about my divorce up until recently. In the beginning I did what I could to get pass the idea of divorce. Besides me feeling like the marriage was a failure what’s more important than my feelings?? God’s of course God hates divorce. Even though in the law it’s written that for certain reasons God allows divorce the way He feels about divorce is quite the opposite.

The other day I watched a video about divorce that was confirmation so now I am set free about my failed marriage. While I was devastated about things before I have since let go and let God. Believe it or not good things have come out of my failed marriage. I have grown so much and I really want to help other people prior to marriage and during too. Marriage is nothing like a relationship it’s important for people to understand the seriousness of it. Marriage is far more than a piece of paper if you get involved with a person that thinks that way then you need to find out why.

I have a lot of advice while everyone is different there are still many things that are the same when it comes to marriage. Number one always treat your spouse with respect, never disrespect them in front of others, and never speak against them to others even your parents. Number two communicate no one is born a mind reader so if something is bothering you say it. Number three once you are married forget the single minded mentality you are one money and alllll. When it comes to money always let your spouse know about all spending and lending. I know people have crisis but let your spouse know when you are helping someone. Number four always be loving to your King and Queen I know that life gets busy but always make time for your spouse this is the person whom you want to spend the rest of your life with. Number five above everything keep God first. God gives structure to our lives I don’t care what anybody says or thinks if God was in my marriage things would have been better.

I am praying for everyone who are about to get married, who are married and those who maybe experiencing problems. My prayer is that everyone turns to God for help. There is no problem that He can not solve. I don’t ever want anyone to feel as I do being thankful for a video for confirmation. If I had God as the foundation of the marriage things would have been different. I’m fine with being able to share my story as a way to help others. I pray that my post will help somebody. God bless everyone.

TeamChrist

So I came across a video on YouTube yesterday and the person was questioning the Bible as well as Christianity. One thing that is always puzzling to me is why are there so many people who feel like they must question the Bible and Christianity. I mean they are nonbelievers so why care so much about our Christian beliefs. Anyway he spoke of having physical evidence that supports the Bible. Look having evidence are my personal testimonies that can not be explained away. Most Christians have testimonies which is evidence even though we don’t need it because we love God that much. Why else is there such a huge Christian following? Millions of people can’t be wrong. America was founded on Christian beliefs. People swear on the Bible in court need I go on?

This is what I have figured out about nonbelievers they just want to do what they want and don’t want to change for the better. Being good, doing good, being smart, being good looking or being rich won’t get you into Heaven. The internet is an excellent tool but it can make people think that they know everything. Newsflash everything on the internet can not be taken at face value. Sometimes being so smart can actually cloud your mind and make one closed minded. Listen faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. We can’t see air but we are breathing right. In fact air is the most important thing that we all need in order to live yet we can not see. Hmmmmmm imagine that. I have a problem with people who have to see everything in order to believe it. Having more faith in a chair that it will hold them or more faith in stranger that prepares their food in a restaurant. How weird is that? I don’t push my beliefs on others but I won’t lie I get really offensive when people try to come against what I believe.

Hebrews11-1

Look I have faith in God and I’m a proud Christian if you don’t would to believe fine. But please stop trying to dismiss something that you don’t believe in the first place. A nonbeliever cannot shake my Christian beliefs or make me doubt when God has done so much for me. A human don’t have authority over my faith I don’t care how smart they think that they are it wouldn’t happen. People think that they are so smart that they lose respect for others which only shows you their morals which are very little which says a lot about them as a person. Making yourself feel like your superior based on things from the internet or wherever you got your information from. There is absolutely nothing  that no one can tell you that  will convince you no matter what is shown or what is told to you. Okay you don’t believe in Christianity I can’t say that I get it but I can ask why does a nonbeliever have so much interest in something that they don’t believe in? Something about Christianity peaks your interest so much that some of you make it your mission to dismiss it. Why? Think about it.

As Bizzle says in his song called Against You it’s so true what he says in his lyrics.

They go:

I think I know what it is father. I finally figured out what it is bout ya. I figured they know that if you exist there’s a lot of sin they love doin they gotta quit father. And the only ones callin it a fairy tale are the ones for which the story doesn’t end as well. Maybe they like it better if they mention hell, like a thief if the law never said he went to jail. I was seekin the truth, found it and I submit already. They just want the truth that agrees with how they feel already. So if they like the sin and they tired of fightin it, they just find another god that don’t mind it then. We got so used to democracy, we think we have the right to vote who we want God to be. God will be God with or without you, honestly. Your father is still your father even if you decide to leave

Knowing Our Role

I already know that this post will not go over well with people and I am fine with it. On Be Lifted the things that are thought about are talked about in a positive and encouraging way. Time may change but the Word of God never will. As I always say technology,  broken homes  and cowardly men has messed up people’s minds. Every Word that’s in the Bible are there for a reason. I have had people tell me that I should be a pastor and every time it comes up I say no. Speaking for myself I understand my role and I am fine with it. I respect God’s Word.

I once had a person talk to me about being a pastor and they referred to Christ telling Mary to tell the Disciples that He rose. Mary went to His tomb it could have been anyone at the time in my opinion. The Disciples missed Christ and were mourning Him. Christ told the Disciples to go and tell the world about Him. The Disciples were twelve men. That’s how I feel and it won’t change.

Society has things all messed up if God put the man as the head of the household it makes sense for the woman not be the head of a church. Everyone is not meant to do everything we must understand our position and play it well. Even though I am physically the head of my household because of reasons that I have no control over God has the ultimate say in my life as well as my household. I will not allow what society is doing along with what’s going on in my life to close my eyes to what is in the Bible.

What I am saying needs to be said look at America we have no boundaries almost every line has been crossed without any second thought. Everyone wants to adjust God’s Word. I know that I need work and God has worked on me He still is. We can not change for the better if we refuse to accept God’s Word. Again I am not a preacher or a teacher I am Tameeka. As the Rock says from WWE know your role and shut your mouth. The truth is only a hard pill to swallow when one is full of themselves so go on the diet of Truth. You will be healthy in no time. Let’s face the facts if our way are so much better then why is society so screwed up and why am I so tired of running my household? God’s thinking and ways are higher than ours.

Ephesians 5:22

Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands as unto the Lord.

1 Timothy 2:12

But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence.
